CEIMB: Jambalaya

This week the recipe was chosen by Anonymous New York. I'll be honest -- until now the only jambalaya I had ever made was out of a Zattaran's box. And, as you all probably guessed, its not very good. So, I went into to this recipe with slightly mixed feelings. Do I like jambalaya -??? Well maybe, but I definitely didn't really like the kind I have eaten my whole life.

However, I was pleasantly surprised by this recipe. I had read some of the comments which said the jambalaya was a little bland, so I decided to replace the ham with andoille sausage. Also, I added a bit more chicken stock than the recipe called for as I didn't want the jambalaya to get too dry.

The verdict - I loved this recipe (and the cats loved the shrimp!). I thought it was very flavorful and nice and spicy (thanks to the andoille sausage). I liked the jambalaya so much that I brought some to work for lunch and even offered some to Peggy (of Pantry Revisited) to taste because she seemed a little skeptical of the recipe. The tasting didn't go quite as I thought it would! Head on over to Peggy's blog to read what happened. Sorry, Pegs.

Thanks Anonymous New York for picking a great recipe this week! I will definitely be making it again.

CEIMB: Double Chocolate Pudding Pie

The recipe this week was chosen by Tessa of Handle the Heat. Head on over to Tessa's blog to see how this pie turned out!

As for my pie, I was all set to make it last night. Then I remembered I had work "junk" after work. So, but the time I got home at 8:30 the pudding pie had become just pudding. So, as I am getting everything together I realized that I failed miserably at getting all of the things I needed at the grocery store. There was no gelatin and all the baking chocolate that's normally in the cabinet was GONE! I guess the cats decided they needed an afternoon snack one day and ate it! So, needless to say, despite my best efforts, neither the pudding or the pie got made last night. I am hopefully going to make this this weekend and will post about it then. I can't wait to see how all the other pies turned out.
